We call it mixed picks.  It lets them choose what to eat, but gives them a good variety.  In the first example, I have cheddar/jack cheese cubes for protein and a variety of in season, on sale fruits and veggies.  They can have ranch dressing to dip if they choose.  In the second pic, we have some different choices of fruits and veggies, plus hard boiled eggs and cheddar and mozzarella cubes.  The combinations are so numerous, my children never tire of this meal.  You can add a slice of homemade whole wheat bread and some real butter as a nice addition. This should be an interesting week for menu planning.  We may be getting a decent accumulation of ice which could possibly cause us to lose power.  So, I am planning some meals that could be cooked on the grill if need be.  I am also making some egg salad and banana bread.  I have two loaves of whole wheat bread in the freezer that I made last week. Here is what we will be eating this week.  Lunches listed are what the kids eat.  I usually eat leftovers or salad.  I love salads with dried cranberries and nuts and seeds.  Yummy.  My favorite dressing is called Hendrickson's and it is fat free and 60 calories per serving and oh, so yummy.  I'm not sure if it is a local brand or national, but I'm pretty sure you can order it online if you Google it. :)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Not the most exciting menu this week.  I am using up a lot of what I have.  So there is a lot more processed food than I would like, but hey, it's not every week right? Being that I am not a huge desert fan, fruit is my sweet of choice.  And fall brings one of my most favorite fruits.....clementines.  What is so great about the greatest of citrus.  Clementines are a user friendly fruit.  Even very small children can peel them.  All the white pith comes off.  No seeds.  Wonderfully sweet.  If you've never tried them, do it. Over 50 pounds. of. potatoes.  Red potatoes.  So we are having potatoes every day this week.  That much I know.  We also were blessed by a neighbor who gave us about 3 pounds of ground venison.  Did I mention I have never cooked venison in my life?  So, anyone out there who has a great recipe for venison or potatoes please share.  Oh, by the way, the potatoes came from our church who received THREE THOUSAND POUNDS of potatoes.  Yep, you read that right.  Now you see why we have so many.  Here is the &lt;a href="http://ozarksfirst.com/content/fulltext/?cid=13927"&gt;story&lt;/a&gt; on the news.  The little girl is my youngest daughter (in the video part).  So here goes the rough draft of the week's menu.  All subject to change as any yummy recipes come in.  Any advice on freezing potatoes would be welcome as well. :)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Monday--&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Breakfast--&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;cereal &amp;amp; milk&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Lunch--&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;sandwich and chips, juice&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Dinner--&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;venison meatballs (used &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0"&gt;Worcestershire&lt;/span&gt;, barbecue sauce and bread crumbs), corn, veggie dippers, roasted potatoes&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Tuesday--&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Breakfast--&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;toast and eggs, fresh hash browns, milk&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Lunch--&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;mac and cheese, fruit, milk&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Dinner--&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;more venison something :), baked potatoes, salad&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Wednesday--&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Breakfast--&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;oatmeal, toast, milk&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Lunch--&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;sandwich, fruit, milk&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Dinner--&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1"&gt;encharitos&lt;/span&gt; (venison break :)), tortilla chips, maybe &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2"&gt;sopapillas&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Thursday--&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Breakfast--&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;cereal and milk&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Lunch--&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;  leftovers&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Dinner--&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;last venison dish, veggie dippers, fresh bread, mashed potatoes&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Friday--&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Breakfast--&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt; eggs, fresh hash browns, toast, milk&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Lunch--&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;lunch with friends at their house after the girl's dance class&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Dinner--&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;homemade pizza, &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_3"&gt;mmmmmmm&lt;/span&gt; and *gasp* soda!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Weekend will be really busy with &lt;a href="http://www.angelfoodministries.com/"&gt;Angel Food &lt;/a&gt;Distribution and church stuff and football so I don't plan to far ahead because we have lots of get &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_4"&gt;togethers&lt;/span&gt; with family and friends on the weekends, so I never know if meals will be at home or someone &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_5"&gt;else's&lt;/span&gt; home.  We are so blessed be surrounded by such great family and friends.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I hope next week I can have some pictures of some of our meals this week with recipes as well. My vision for this blog is to give recipe ideas along with participating in Menu Plan Mondays on &lt;a href="http://orgjunkie.com/"&gt;Organizing Junkie's&lt;/a&gt; site.  Since I'm not really that organized today, I'm just going to give a quick run down of my breakfasts and dinners  for the week.  I'm trying to use up what I have this week and only pick up milk and a little produce at the store. To end things for this week, I'll leave you a simple recipe for yummy deviled eggs.  I have found it is generally best to stick to the basics with deviled eggs.  There are many "fancy" versions out there, but this is the one that always gets rave reviews.  I'm just approximating the amounts, you'll need to add more or less to your taste.  I rarely measure when I cook, it's a tough habit to break!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 0);"&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;Heavenly Eggs (my children just didn't like the name "deviled eggs" so they changed the name and now call them "heavenly eggs" ;) )&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0);"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;6 hard boiled eggs, peeled&lt;br /&gt;1/3 cup mayo (we actually use Miracle Whip Light)&lt;br /&gt;2 Tablespoons mustard&lt;br /&gt;1 Tablespoon white vinegar&lt;br /&gt;Paprika for garnish if desired&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Cut eggs in half and scoop yolks out into a bowl and arrange the whites on a plate.  Mash the yolks and add the mayo, mustard and vinegar.  Stir with a fork until creamy.  Spoon the yolk mixture back into the whites.  I do this by either using two teaspoons, one for scooping it out of the bowl and the other to push it off the scooping spoon into the whites, or what I use most often is a small scoop about the size of a melon baller.
